The Walters
Joan & I and our children moved to Bute from Brighton in 1998.
I spent my first 11 years calling Bute home occasionally - I spent 90% of the same 11 years living in Kuwait where my father was working. I had a pretty idyllic Bute childhood that seemed to involve minor gorse bush arson events and fishing for tiny, defenceless and mostly inedible sea creatures.
Aged about 11, I cycled most of the way around the island with our labrador, Tunku. Ok, I cycled and he followed me faithfully for 15 miles. He didn't need another walk for some time!
Born in Edinburgh, Joan was brought up in Guyana & Jamaica and so the island life suits her too - though not the temperature! The kids have adapted well, as have their accents.
James Munro, my grandfather, was Rector of Rothesay Academy, hence Munro's B & B. If we were called Walters's B & B, I think people would assume my first name is Walter. Err...now they assume our surname is Munro.
I divide my time between cooking breakfasts / washing up / talking too much and being a photographer / web designer and fortunately for me Joan does all the rest. It seems to work for us and we enjoy hosting guests on this beautiful island in this wonderful house.
